About

MAPS exists to empower farmers to be more efficient in producing and transporting their goods. We believe that high-quality equipment can be made accessible to farmers in developing countries by making it affordable through appropriate designs and local manufacturing.

The lack of road infrastructure, motorized transportation, and mechanical power leads to major losses for farmers.

Many areas of the developing world are in desperate need of better rural transportation and power solutions. The lack of road infrastructure, motorized transportation, and mechanical power leads to major losses for farmers. The MAPS  AgRover is a unique option for such rural farmers because it

  • powers auxiliary equipment (e.g. pumps, generators, and food processors)
  • can pull small-field operations
  • reduces the time and energy spent on farm tasks
  • can traverse off-road
  • has no known strong competition in the market with comparable price and utility
  • is locally manufactured.

If farmers have access to the AgRover, they will save time and money. This will help subsistence farmers lift themselves out of poverty and become food suppliers. This will increase their own and their community’s food security.

If farmers have access to the AgRover, they will save time and money.

A typical end-user for the AgRover would be a farmer or a transportation service business. The direct buyer for the AgRover would be a farming co-op, large farm, business, or local government. They have enough capital to purchase an AgRover to use it for transporting seed, fertilizer, water, crops, etc. Farmers can use the AgRover on a regular basis to irrigate, thresh, and process the crops or even to cultivate or plant fields. Farmers (or dedicated rental businesses) can also rent out the vehicle’s services to other farmers to earn more money while boosting the productivity of other farms. A smallholder farmer with no way to irrigate his crops could rent an AgRover and pump attachment to boost his field’s yield. Additionally, smallholders could rent the AgRover to transport their harvest.

MAPS-International will be the parent company that owns shares of local companies (e.g. MAPS-Nigeria), which will be partially owned locally. The local companies will manufacture, market, and sell the vehicles. MAPS-International will bring engineering expertise, new products, and supply chain management to each local company.
